Wolfburn Kylver Series No 16 (Sowilo)

Sowilo is a marriage of three first-fill bourbon casks that were quietly sleeping deep in Wolfburn’s Thurso warehouses, from the early days of production. These casks held peated single malt for the better part of a decade before bottling. Wolfburn crafted it specifically for the loyal collectors who’d spent years asking for a peated release. The name comes from the Sun rune in the Elder Futhark alphabet, a symbol of victory and the light that arrives once patience finally pays off. Time and the salt-laced Caithness air have claimed their share through evaporation, yet real depth remains in the glass. Gentle peat sits alongside the whisky rather than dominating it, and sweetness carries the palate instead of smoke overpowering it. Sowilo strikes a rare balance: bold enough to hold your interest, yet smooth enough to stay with you long after the last sip.
