The Uncle Nearest brand honors Nathan "Nearest" Green, a former slave who taught Jack Daniel how to distill. The 1884 Small Batch bottling is named in honor of the year it is believed that Mr. Green last filled barrels of whiskey and retired.
Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey is a 93-proof whiskey distilled, aged and bottled entirely by Uncle Nearest. Each batch is curated by 5th generation Master Blender, Victoria Eady Butler, who was named Master Blender of the Year by Whisky Magazine for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022. Bottled at 46.5% abv. Honey and warm brown sugar, cedar, orange peel and tobacco flower notes on the nose, alonside spices of ground ginger and white pepper. The palate shines with flavours of caramel, spicy wood tannins, chocolate, cigar leaf, nougat and cinnamon, before a long and syrupy finish.
