Tokara Directors Reserve 2006 (Magnum)

The Directors Reserve range of wines focuses on Bordeaux-style blends. Handpicked from a single vineyard, it’s an elegant and layered range. It includes a barrel fermented white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and a classic Bordeaux-style red blend. Only the very best and most expressive parcels are used to create these iconic blends.

This wine is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet franc and 3% Malbec. The wine has an intense, deep garnet red color with amazing clarity. The aromas on the nose are classic for this type of wine. Strong notes of cassis, black berries and dark cherries. The nose is slightly herbal and fresh with hints of tomato puree and tomato leaves, as well as the typical hint of mint that hints at its origin. The palate is reminiscent of what the nose shows. At the entrance and in the middle of the palate, it is powerful and mouth-filling with amazingly dry, structured tannins. The finish is surprisingly fresh and elegant.
