Ireland’s Waterford Distillery splashed on the whisky scene in 2020 with its terroir-focused Single Farm Origin releases, a slew of which have hit the shelves since we first looked in on them. Their Organic Gaia release shortly after was the distillery’s first blend of distilled barleys from various farms, although it was limited to only a handful of certified organic producers. Now, the distillery has unveiled what it calls the “definitive Waterford Whisky,” a flagship blend dubbed The Cuvée.
The highly anticipated release from Waterford. Waterford The Cuvee is made with 100% Irish barley, sourced from a variety of farms across the country. Bottled at 50% abv, this impressive bottling pulls together spirits from Waterford's Single Farm Origin series to create an outstanding Irish whiskey. Aromas of stewed apples, malt loaf, and barley sugar are present on the palate. The palate brings orange zest, lemon peel, and olive. The finish is very smooth and full of barley.
