Back in 2013 The Glenlivet released a whisky called Alpha with no tasting notes, no cask details and an opaque black bottle. Glenlivet Cipher is a mystery. Everything you would normally know about a whisky before drinking it, from age to cask types, has been kept a secret. The whisky comes in a stunning opaque black bottle that doesn’t really tell us much, either. What we do know is that Glenlivet used a never-before-seen combination of casks, resulting in a super smooth and fruity single malt. At the time The Glenlivet Cipher launched in 2016, customers could go to the accompanying interactive website to guess the whisky’s flavor profile in an online deciphering game.
