Hartenberg Wine Estate, established in 1692 on the slopes of Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch, holds a rich history rooted in vineyard cultivation and winemaking. From its early beginnings when Cunraad Boin and Christoffel Esterhuizen cleared the land for 2000 vines, to ownership transitions through the centuries, the estate's legacy evolved.
The Stork was the nickname for Ken Mackenzie – a WW2 Spitfire pilot who bought Hartenberg farm in 1987. His daughters still own and run the property today. This limited volume wine represents a specific vineyard with clay–rich soils, which add a savoury character to the concentrated dark fruits flavours and white pepper spice. Tannins are smooth from well integrated new French oak.
