Le Chant Du Coq 2019

The 2019 Le Chant du Coq Rouge is a fine red wine from Stellenbosch, South Africa, scored 93 points. It is a collaboration between the Oddo family, Willie Joubert, Schalk-Willem Joubert, and Petri Venter, who have combined their expertise to create this Bordeaux-style blend. The wine is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Sangiovese, fermented in French oak barrels, transferred to cement tanks, and bottled after approximately 24 months. It is known for its deep Burgundy red to brick red color, clean but complex nose with notes of mulberries, black cherries, plums, and vanilla pods, and a smooth, elegant palate with a balanced mouthfeel. The wine can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of food, such as lasagne, steak, and stews. It can be slightly chilled but not too much.
