The third edition of the popular Campbeltown series bears the name of a mystical and threatening figure from local folklore: The Wulver. Master Blender Iain McAlister has skillfully crafted a whisky that perfectly captures the spirit of the werewolf by finishing it in first-fill tawny port casks. The 12-year-old Campbeltown malt was initially matured in first-fill bourbon casks before being allowed to mature for nine months in first-fill tawny port casks. The result, Release No. 3, delights with aromas of dark fruits, intense sweetness, and seductive chocolate notes – harmoniously combined with the region's characteristic maritime saltiness. Bottled at cask strength (51.7%), without chill filtration, and with a natural color, this whisky remains true to its original character.
Tawny Port is distinguished by its long aging in wooden barrels, which gives it its characteristic tan to mahogany hue. Unlike other ports, Tawny spends its entire aging period in wooden barrels, which allows it to develop complex wood flavors.
