The Delaire Botmaskop is named after the rising mountain behind the cellar, and this vintage is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. With excellent conditions in 2021, especially for Stellenbosch, winemaker Morné Frey was able to create a super-charged Botmaskop. A powerful, yet elegant, Bordeaux-style red blend with aromas of cassis, spice, and dark berries, and flavors of blackberry, licorice, and dark chocolate on the palate. It has a full-bodied texture with fine, lingering tannins and a long, balanced finish. Notes of graphite, cherry cola, and subtle earthy and herbal undertones also appear, making it a complex wine with significant aging potential.
