Kleinood is a small farm with just ten hectares devoted to vines. The vineyard is divided, by its natural existing boundaries, into twenty three small blocks. This offers us the privilege of managing each block individually. The grapes from each block are cared for, irrigated, harvested, crushed, fermented and matured in wood separately, to highlight the attributes of that specific block’s terroir.
This wine can be described as a quintessential classic Syrah, with a twist. Featuring a medium intensity nose, starting with violet flowers and cinnamon spice and evolving into freshly crushed black pepper and red cherry, it’s clean complexity and subtle intricacies make for a delightful drinking experience. Still youthful, it also shows smooth chocolate notes proving great potential for evolution in ageing. The palate is refreshing with a fine grained tannin adding weight to the mid-pallet – a juicy, yet elegant wine with good concentration.
