In 1939, on a small hill at De Grendel overlooking Table Bay, Cape Town and Table Mountain, a young Sir De Villiers Graaff (2nd Baronet) asked Ena to marry him. She said yes, beginning a marriage that would span 60 years, and the koppie where he proposed has been known ever since as Proposal Hill.
Proposal Hill Brut Rosé takes its name from that enduring piece of De Grendel family history. Crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir grown on the west-facing slopes of the Tygerberg, the vineyards look out across the same landscape that formed the backdrop to Sir De Villiers and Lady Graaff’s story.
