This single malt Scotch is one of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2019, named ‘Rare by Nature’. This medium-peated whisky, matured in refill American oak casks is a first for the distillery, using peated barely. On the nose expect background peat, not hugely prevalent although similar notes of earthy evergreen are present, notes of citrus also. On the palate this Speyside expression serves up candied fruit, caramel followed by earthy spice. The finish is sweet light peat, honey and dry spice.
