Caol Ila 8 year old (2012 Signatory Vintage)

Distilled on 14/06/2012, this is cask no.12, bottled at 57.8% ABV and a very limited release of only 525 bottles. Nose: Smoky, roasted, peaty, spicy, iodine and saline-soaked biltong. Gradually, black liquorice, dried apricots, cooked rhubarb with embers in the background.
Palate: Bacon, seaweed, Lindt dark salted chocolate, with notes of exotic tropical fruits, over ripe banana and a liquorice spiked espresso. Unctious and long on the finish, the ashy peat rivalling the sweeter dark fruits of blackcurrant and blackberry.
