One of Bordeaux’s five blending components, this grape has come into its own in Argentina, where it produces gutsy reds. Bellevue’s Malbec is one of a kind: bold and enchanting, our Wild Child, rapidly acquiring a cult following. From vineyard blocks dating back to 1990, now trellised and partly irrigated. Most of Bellevue`s Malbec vineyards lie on the flat terrain alongside the Bottelary River, with one exception—a vineyard on a southern-facing hillside. The grapes were handpicked and were cold soaked before inoculation. The wine fermented for about five days, with pump-overs three times daily. After completing malolactic fermentation in tank the wine was matured in French oak (20% new) for 12 months.
