de Trafford Blueprint Syrah 2012

A small family winery at the end of the Upper Blaauwklippen Road in the mountains above Stellenbosch South Africa. Established in 1992 by architect David Trafford & artist wife Rita with the focus on high end red wines of great intensity & longevity using minimal intervention production methods.

The De Trafford Blueprint Shiraz carries an outstanding track record achieving consistently high ratings in the Wine Spectator, never less than 90 points. Most of the fruit for our Blueprint Syrah comes from a specific block in our neighbours vineyard at Keermont. We've used the fruit from this block since the first harvest in 2011 and continue to work closely with the Keermont team who produce some exquisite wines of their own. Usually a little of our Syrah 393  is added as well as small amounts from a few other blocks in the Helderberg area. 'Blueprint' refers to the plan of the winery on the label. A reference to David Trafford's previous architectural career.
