Roodeberg Black 2021

This wine offers a big presence and structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with bold flavours of dark fruit, blackcurrant, spice and notes of cigar box. The palate is complemented by a soft mouthfeel and silky tannins wrapped around hints of blueberry, oak spices and caramelised sweet flavours resonating from the charred cigar notes. The wine was matured in new French oak barrels, for 18 months.

Roodeberg, the famous red blend from KWV, still enjoys global popularity today 50 years after it was first produced. The wine noted for its consistent style and quality, is a blend of selected varietals. The red hue of the Boland mountains at sunset inspired the name, Roodeberg, literally meaning “red mountain”. This famous red blend shows aromatic layers of fresh red fruit, raspberry, mulberries, cassis and dark fruit with an undertone of spices and dark chocolate. The palate is well balanced and soft with nuances of cedary oak and dark plums.
