Mulderbosch Faithful Hound Red Blend 2014

Mulderbosch Faithful Hound celebrates the virtues of Bordeaux’s great tradition of blending. Aside from investing considerable effort in our own vineyards in close proximity to False Bay, our quest to find the perfect sites for each of the five varieties used in the blend led us from cooler sites to the rich, shale soils of Bottelary. The goal with each bottling of Faithful Hound is to produce a rich, complex wine that comfortably expresses old world class and the generosity of fruit associated with Stellenbosch.

The 2014 Faithful Hound is a blend of 32% Cabernet Franc, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 16% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot. It has a joyful and very pure bouquet with red cherry and red plum scents, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced with grainy tannin, good backbone with a satisfying tobacco-edged finish. This is worth investigating and it has the substance to age well in bottle.
