Anthonij Rupert had long held the Chardonnay varietal in high regard. He wanted to show the world the potential of this wine when born from South African soil. And so it was: in 1998, we released our first vintage, and as a wine of great sophistication, named her in honour of Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, the wife of the late Baron Edmond.
This Chardonnay enchants with its golden hue and exquisite aromatics, inviting you on a sensory journey. Moreover, notes of grapefruit, lemon rind, delicate vanilla, and cinnamon spice tantalize the senses. As you savor each sip, an intricate minerality emerges, adding depth and complexity to the wine. Additionally, this lingering minerality contributes to a memorable finish that lingers on the palate, inviting contemplation and reflection.
