Kilkerran is one of the very few Scottish single malts that does not bear the name of its distillery. A particularity that it owes to its history. In 2004, when Hedley Wright, the owner of Springbank, decided to revive the Glengyle distillery, founded in the 19th century in Campbeltown, the name of the brand no longer belonged to him. Since 2004, Springbank's teams have been producing Kilkerran single malts at the Glengyle distillery.
While Glengyle's theoretical capacity is 750,000 litres, the distillery produces only 30,000 litres, making Kilkerran a very exclusive and sought-after whisky. Heavily Peated was bottled 20/02/2016, it reveals the peaty side of Kilkerran. It is a Single Malt that has been aged in Bourbon casks (55%) and sherry casks (45%). It has a phenol level of 84ppm*.
Kilkerran Heavily Peated has an undeniable peaty character that combines with the richness of its maturation.
