Port Charlotte SC: 01 2012 is the newest cask experiment in Bruichladdich’s heavily peated Single Malt. The fifth release in the series it was crafted using 100% Islay-grown barley from withing 10 miles of the distillery which was then peated to 40ppm and distilled in 2012. This wonderful 9-year-old Scotch was initially matured in a mix of Sherry butts and Bourbon barrels before being recasked into Sauternes casks (hence the ‘SC’ in the name). The distillery is keeping the origin of the French wine barrels secret but we all know that Bruichladdich’s sourcing and provenance is second to none so they are probably from one of the most famous names in the world of fine wine.
