Bruichladdich 2004 5 Years Octomore Edition 02.2 Orpheus Bourbon / Château Petrus Wine Casks Finish Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cask Strength 61.0% Vol. - the second limited release from the legendary Octomore Edition!
A rare and unique vintage 2004 5 year old Bruichladdich Octomore 02.2 super heavily peated Islay single malt scotch whisky and the 2nd release from the limited Octomore range from the year 2009. The special Octomore Edition 02.2 Orpheus Islay single malt scotch whisky was distilled in the year 2004 and, after over 5 years of maturation in American oak bourbon casks and a finish in exceptional French Château Petrus wine casks, bottled on 2. December 2009 without the addition of dyes or chill filtration in an edition of 15.000 individually numbered bottles at cask strength 61.0% abv and 140 PPM.
This super heavily peated Islay single malt scotch whisky is distilled by Bruichladdich in memory of the old Octomore distillery, which was located above Port Charlotte, and was in its day one of the whiskies with the highest phenolic content at 140 PPM in the world. The result is quite extraordinary - elegant peat smoke with lingering fruit, a coating of heathery honey and grind of black pepper for good measure.
