Octomore is the super-heavily peated single malt produced by Bruichladdich distillery, the most routinely heavily peated in the world. The whisky is named after the farm of the same name, located on a hillside north of the town of Port Charlotte. Having been traditionally an un-peated single malt due to the needs of its former owners for their blends, Murray McDavid were quick to diversify the Bruichladdich portfolio, also introducing the more lightly peated Port Charlotte and Lochindaal. Bruichladdich Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, revealed the idea behind his “OBA Concept” at his very first Fèis Ìle Masterclass in 2016. Traditionally the Octomore releases boast outrageous PPM levels which are clearly stated on each bottle. Octomore Concept OBA from Bruichladdich is a special release that does not reveal any peat specifications or maturation details. Only 3,000 bottles released.
