Walsh Whiskey’s Writers’ Tears is a critically acclaimed, award-winning recreation of the fabled 19th century whiskey. This dram is the marriage of one cask, two grains, and three distillations. A marriage of aged single pot still and aged single malt Irish whiskey, this expression matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks. It is distilled entirely from barley, both malted and unmalted. Non-peated, this dram comes out at 40% abv. This is inspired by the production methods of the whisky that was enjoyed by many of the great Irish writers. Joyce, Wilde, Beckett, and so on all enjoyed the dram that was famous for blending pot still and malt drams. On the nose one can expect flashes of crisp green apple and vanilla. The palate develops this vanilla, with caramel, ginger, and some malty notes. The finish is warming and long.
