Much like the elusive mermaid singing her siren song and luring sailors, the enticing nose on Glen Scotia’s The Mermaid 12-Year-Old encourages one to swim deeper into its aromas. Unpeated, the nose displays maritime characters caught in a sea breeze, with preserved lemons and the Palo-cortado finish lending a slightly nutty edge. The palate is classically Glen Scotia, with a saltiness balanced by a lovely, sweet caramel, walnut, and wood polish. This is a very enjoyable inaugural release from the icons of Campbeltown.
