Hartenberg Wine Estate, established in 1692 on the slopes of Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch, holds a rich history rooted in vineyard cultivation and winemaking. From its early beginnings when Cunraad Boin and Christoffel Esterhuizen cleared the land for 2000 vines, to ownership transitions through the centuries, the estate's legacy evolved.
The Doorkeeper Reserve Red 2022 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Shiraz. Hartenberg carefully select specific vineyard blocks and other top parcels during our rigorous grading process to create this wine. First released in 1990, it has become their most popular wine. This wine is a deep ruby with a purple tint. On the nose, it offers rich aromas of blackberry, plum, and a hint of fynbos. The palate is juicy and full, with ripe plum, warm spice, and silky tannins. It’s a consistently reliable and enjoyable choice. Perfect with classic pizzas, slow-cooked beef bourguignon, grilled lamb chops, or herb-crusted yellowtail.
